The challenge
Ghana’s national blood programme needed specialist processing and storage capability at its headquarters and its southern centre, alongside the furniture to run them as working facilities.
What the contracts covered
Under Health Services Rehabilitation Project III, BC Medicals was contracted in 2013 for three equipment lots, a plasma blast freezer, an apheresis machine and blood-bank centrifuges, and separately for general furniture for the same facilities, with 2014 addenda restating the contract sums in euros.
The engagement context
The two contracts sat within the project’s Support to Blood Services component, equipping the National Blood Service Headquarters and the Southern Area Blood Centre.
